You May Be Right

I knew I could use this song in some way, if only because of the chorus and it wasn’t until I realized I hadn’t done a song specifically for the pre-vet phase of our lives did it gel.  I put this together trying to capture those early years where we were all scrambling for grades and hours of experience and all of the other minutiae to jump through those hoops to get into vet school.  I think it has only gotten more difficult from what I can tell with current pre-vets.  Anyway, maybe this can be the anthem for new pre-vets.

Song performed by the Galvanizing Gabby Sanches.  Back-ground vocals and musical composition by the Ever-Rambunctious Rick Barclay of Barclasion Music.  Lyrics by the Droll Dean Scott.

Lyrics

Friday night I studied Biology,
Saturday I got through Chemistry,
Sunday came, I started on Statistics,
I was only having fun,
Wasn’t hurting anyone,
And I felt closer to vet school for a change,
I was stranded in the undergrad zone,
I got through Trigonometry alone,
Even walked to my study groups in the rain,
And you said I’d get burnt out,
But my grades give me no doubt,
So you said that only proves that I’m insane.

You may be right, I may be crazy,
But I’ll ‘ventually be the veterinarian you’re looking for,
Leave on the light, Don’t try to save me,
You may be wrong, for all I know, but you may be right.

You tell me ’bout a rising debt,
I don’t care, the bill’s not here yet,
I just need to get through this next semester,
Stop calling, can’t stop to eat,
Gotta cram for my GRE,
And I know my competition doesn’t rest,
I’ll do better than the best I can do,
The impossible is not my view,
Got my letters of recommendation in the bag,
Caffeine will see me through,
I’ll take classes in summer school,
And I found that sleep is really over-rated.

You may be right, I may be crazy,
But I’ll ‘ventually be the veterinarian you’re looking for,
Leave on the light, Don’t try to save me,
You may be wrong, for all I know, but you may be right.

Remember how you found me there,
Volunteering here and everywhere,
I knew I wouldn’t have a life for some time,
You tried to give me facts,
I said don’t get me off track,
‘Cause I might enjoy some madness for awhile.
Think of all the years I’ve been through,
To get to the goal I know I’m due,
I might just be as crazy as you say,
If I’m crazy, I don’t mind,
‘Cause to animals I’ll be kind,
And you wouldn’t want me any other way.

You may be right, I may be crazy,
But I’ll ‘ventually be the veterinarian you’re looking for,
It’s too late to fight, It’s too late to change me,
You may be wrong, for all I know, but you may be right.

You may be wrong but you may be right……..(x until fade)
